Montreux Rotholtz

The woman is divided into an arctic region
and a subarctic region. There are no forests
in the arctic, but shrub willows gather in fists
on her.               The soil everywhere is poor.

The woman                   is made up of valleys
and there are glaciers in the valleys,        she

is all slits and puckers.        All women move
flowingly                and have a brittle surface.
         Some are almost imperceptibly moving.
All women are made

                   by the hollowing of wind.
              Women swell with electrophosphoric

discharge,               grow fluid bulbs of meat,
a raised web. Gaps in the smooth foils.
Held in your palm, any woman
would gnaw through and leave you.
